ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Welcome Relatives & Community Partners.

Now in its 7th year, the Indigenous Milk Medicine Conference returns as part of Indigenous Milk Medicine Week (August 8–14, 2025) a virtual gathering rooted in community care, ceremony, and Indigenous first food knowledge passed through generations. Hosted by the Indigenous Milk Medicine Collective, this gathering is held in deep love for our communities and with respect for the ancestral knowledge that continues to nourish, connect, and strengthen us.

“Unapologetically Indigenous: Love, Landback, and Liberation,”

This year’s theme braids together our cultural, political, and spiritual realities:

Love is ceremony, kinship, and connection.

Landback is the reclamation of place, language, and memory.

Liberation is health and sovereignty—defined on our own terms.

It invites us to return to our roots, speak our truths, and uplift lactation as a cultural and biological practice—one that protects, connects, and strengthens our communities across generations. Together, we learn, heal, and carry forward the knowledge and power of those who came before us, while creating space for those yet to come.

This August, we invite you to learn, move, celebrate, and heal with us! The virtual conference sessions will take place August 11–14, featuring voices from across Turtle Island including birthworkers, lactation educators, knowledge holders, artists, and organizers.
